I live in Canada. I love music. I believe in social justice. I love reading, writing, and the printed word. I believe in being a gentleman and that there are still some around. I believe in shaving with a straight razor, carrying a pocket knife, and enjoying a pipe or cigar. But, I mostly believe in Love.

Politics…

…Is such a slippery and expansive topic. It appears to me to be among the few topics that powerfully draws out ignorance and closed-minded opinion sowing. People simply throw them out there, scattering them wherever the seeds may fall. We have our values, values that differ from other people’s values, and then assume that for them to not vote with our value’s spurring them is a ridiculous notion. Clearly, that point of view is the ridiculous notion. A government and a country are built on more than the passions of our hearts and our personal values. This is especially true these days when the world is in such a precarious state. A good government marries personal values and effective business management. Canada has just had an election. Hopefully the new majority government can marry the two better than has been done in the last thirty years by various parties.
